Mr. Darren McCourt is an experienced Specialist Oral Surgeon registered in the U.K (70517) and Ireland (77/99). 

He completed his dentistry at Glasgow University and then held training posts at Glasgow Dental Hospital (Department of Oral Surgery / Department of Restorative Dentistry) and Newcastle General Hospital (Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery) where he was a hospital resident for two years.  The resident post involved Oral Surgery clinics at Newcastle Dental Hospital and other local cottage hospitals.  Thereafter he completed Vocational Training in Glasgow (West of Scotland Postgraduate Dental Education Training Programme) and was entered onto the Specialist Oral Surgery list in 2000. He has held Oral Surgery posts for the Eastern Health Board at Loughlinstown Hospital and was a clinical teacher in Oral Surgery at the Dublin Dental Hospital and School for many years.

He has completed his fellowship (Oral Surgery/Oral Medicine) and membership in Oral Surgery at the Royal College of Surgeons London as well as a diploma in sedation at the University of Newcastle.  It was at Newcastle he completed his research on the “Bispectral Index in sedated patients using midazolam during Oral Surgery”.

Darren now provides Oral Surgery services and Advanced Dental Implantology procedures for referring dental and medical practitioners in a primary care setting, Castle Clinic Dalkey and in a secondary care setting, Blackrock Clinic Dublin. He continues with teaching having run a ‘hands-on’ oral surgery course for the Irish Faculty of General Dental Practitioners for several years that has now evolved into a ‘hands-on’ dental implant training programme at Castle Clinic.  He was the first surgeon in Ireland to complete a ‘quad zygoma’ using the then new Nobel 45 implant that was launched in New York in 2017 at the Blackrock Clinic for reconstruction of the atrophic maxilla and continued to lead being the first practice in U.K. and Ireland to use ‘real-time’ X-Guided implant surgery in 2018. 

He is a member of the British Association of Oral Surgeons, Irish Association of Oral Surgeons, peer reviews oral surgery papers for the Irish Dental Association and sits on the U.K. and Ireland Nobel Bio-care Advisory Board.
